Pennsylvania Here I Am

This is where President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address

Four days and 42 miles and Maryland is done. Melodie pick me up at the border between MD and PA. The next day I took a zero. What’s a zero. That’s a day there are no miles done on the AT. People spend their day getting resupplied, washing their clothes and relaxing. I happened to spend my zero touring Gettysburg National Park, I took advantage of the car tour since I did not really feel like walking too much. I am a big fan of Civil War history. It was amazing to be able to view where this battle occurred.

On Friday 5/1, Melodie drove Spartacus and me back to Pen Mar park, where we left the trail on Wednesday. Melodie and I said our goodbyes to each other as she was starting her trip home. Spartacus, being a much faster hiker than me , went up ahead and we would meet at the end of the day. I came across this group at the roadside. There was Cupcake, Spike, Rusty and Atoin, which is some kind of turtle. Nice people. Hiked 8 mile to Tumbling Run Shelter.

Next morning (5/2), got an early start with a 13 mile day planned. Lots of ups and downs and rocks, some very big rocks, you just have to pick your way through them. Finally arrived at Quarry Rock Shelter.
