Had a great weekend at Harpers Ferry during Flip Flop Fest. Met a lot of great people who work and serve with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. Shout out to All Good, that’s her trail name. There was a lot of good friendships made with other hikers.

First day’s hike was a lot of ups and downs, which will basically be how the whole trail goes. I hiked with a group of five the first and second day. Meeting for lunch and at the evening campsite. Four of them already have trail names: King of Hearts, Quarter Master, Ypsy and Spartacus. Trail names are usually given to someone by a fellow hiker. One of the guys did not have a trail name and I don’t either. I always introduce my self as just Chuck.

We finished with eleven miles and had a great campsite for the night. Rose early in the morning and started hiking around 8:30

Day 2 I hiked 9 miles and Melodie picked me up at Washington Monument State Park. Yes, Melodie is still here for a few days. We are staying at a state park in a bare bones cabin. I hated leaving the gang, but I will hopefully catch up with them soon. Saw a lot of neat things along the way. There is a tremendous amount of history in the area and the AT runs right through a lot of it. Melodie will drop me off right where she picked me up early in the morning to start a day that I will be trying to hike about 13 miles.

Psalms 91:9-10, if you say “the LORD is my refuge” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
